At Paxton Tennis and Fitness Club, we have a fully equipped gym that carries a wide range of free weights and a broad range of equipment such as: bands, weighted balls, Bosu balance boards, Kettlebells, battleropes, and sandbags. We’ve expanded our weight training room to 650 square feet with power racks, benches, new dumbbells, and rowing machines. We also have a turf room that houses our spin bikes and it is also where most of our strength and HIIT classes are held. Try out our Keiser spin bikes which have an unlimited adjustment feature and the pneumatic technology Keiser workout equipment. We also have ellipticals, treadmills, and other calorie-burning cardio equipment.
Free Orientation Session
All new members are entitled to a free consultation with one of our personal trainers about what the Paxton Tennis & Fitness Club has to offer upon completing the full-year membership sign-up process. This free orientation offer must be scheduled within the first 30 days of your new membership or it becomes invalid. This includes an introduction to the machines, equipment, pool facility, and classes. Please schedule your appointments through the front desk.
*Sign up is open 48 hours in advance for these classes by calling 508-755-8223. You must call the front desk at least 2 hours before the class so the desk can call those on the wait list. The first time someone does not show for class, they will be put on the wait list the next time they sign up for that class and the second time it happens, they will be charged $15.00.
These high-energy group cycling classes consist of interval work at varying intensities, levels of resistance, and positions on the bike. Our instructors use a rate of perceived exertion to ensure that participants are working at optimal individual levels. Be sure to bring water and a hand towel.
Gear Up to Stretch - Mondays 5-6am with Erica Burn it out in an intense spin for 30 minutes, then stretch and release muscular tension for the last half.
Cycle Fusion - Tuesdays 5:15-6pm with Tina We focus on proper spin techniques for optimal performance.
Ride 'n Roll - Wednesdays 5-6am with Tina A great spin cycle routine, up hills, and blasting flats! Work up your energy and muscle strength while keeping your cardio at a high level. Then we will roll away any physical & mental tension using rollers for Self-Myofascial Release. (Self-Myofascial Release is a self-masses technique that can loosen bound connective tissue giving you greater range and ease of motion.
Intervals Rule - Thursdays 8:30-9:30am with Randi Accessible to riders of all levels, this class uses a variety of resistance and cadence in multiple riding positions to optimize an interval workout. Music is upbeat and motivating to keep participants engaged.
Spin Your Guts Out (Spin & Abs) - Fridays 5-6am with Erica This cycling class is specifically designed to maximize calorie burn with minimum time with the added element of core strength training.
Ride - Saturdays 7:30-8:30am Instructor Rotation(Tina/Diane) This class is a great cardiovascular workout. Pedal through hill climbs, sprints, and many other challenging drills and exercises. All levels are welcome.
These classes combine heart-pumping cardio and strength training activities in a single class. Our instructors utilize a variety of equipment (steps, weights, kettle bells, resistance bands, and more) to give you an innovative workout each and every session.
Muscle Max - Sundays 8:00-9:00am with Tina Get your heart pumping and flex your muscles in this high energy class that will challenge you from head to toe with cardiovascular and muscle strengthening intervals. A variety of fitness modalities are utilized (weights, calisthenics, body-weight, gliders, TRX, Bosu, resistance tubes) to provide a full body workout. Modifications provided to accommodate all fitness levels.
Burn - Mondays 8:30-9:30am with Leah A fun, fast paced class modified for all levels. This class uses intervals of target cardio. We will work major muscle groups & those stabilizing ones you didn't even know you had!
Power Express - Mondays 5:15-5:45pm with Tina You will define, develop and tone in this 30 minute class using all kinds of equipment! We incorporate power strength moves, heart pumping cardio, Tabata and Plyometrics for an express energy blast.
Super Dex -Tuesdays 5-6am with Sam Not your standard weight lifting class! Increase your dexterity, performance, strength and cardio through body-weight training and maximum effort.
Morning Mix-Up Blast - Thursdays 5-6am with Erica The best way to improve your workouts is to MIX IT UP! This 30 minute class is a mix up of resistance & strength moves with light weights and cardio. The focus of the class will change monthly ti keep your muscles guessing and progressing!
These high energy classes help develop balanced total body strength, muscle stamina, and endurance with the use of weights, bands, steps, balls, and other equipment. Our instructors cue proper alignment and appropriate weights while encouraging you to work at your own pace to get the most out of the classes.
Pure Strength - Tuesdays 6-6:45pm with Tina & Fridays 8:30-9:30am with Leah Come learn perfect form for safe & effective weight lifting. These classes focus on all major muscle groups for power and strength gains, along with attention to smaller support muscles for a complete workout.
Stronger - Wednesdays 8:30-9:30am with Leah This class is designed to build strength, tone muscles and increase bone density. Stronger is focused on muscular endurance using hand weights, bands and strategic repetitions. A total body workout to get STRONGER!
Core & More - Thursdays 8-8:45am with Sarah A non-impact workout of 15 minutes core, 15 minutes glutes and 15 minutes arms. Simple, basic, fun and funky. We will use a variety of equipment but keep it light. "Go at your own pace" and modifications made this a great class for all levels.
Drawing from the principles of Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga, students of all levels benefit from complete practices that incorporate the use of props for safe modifications or extensions for their own individual needs. These classes include breathing exercises, movements, and relaxation techniques that stretch and strengthen the body/mind, and improve balance, flexibility, and focus.
*Yoga Form - Mondays 9:30-10:30am with Sarah This class is geared to those beginning their practice and seasoned yogi's who want a slower paced class. We focus on reclined, seated, and standing postures to cultivate flexibility, balance, and strength, as well as proper breathing to calm and energize the body and mind.
*Advanced Yoga -Tuesdays 6:00-7:00pm with Sarah A vigorous class for students who have yoga experience, we flow through classic, non-traditional, and athletic postures. Concentrating on breath-work, energy, anatomical alignment, and physiology, we also explore some yoga philosophy and meditation.
*Vinyasa Flow - Thursdays 6:00-7:00pm with Sue This dynamic flow style class will improve overall strength, balance, and flexibility while moving through an invigorating and uplifting sequence. Emphasis on body, mind, and breath connection will improve focus and stillness within. This is open to all levels.
*Beginner Yoga - Fridays 9:30-10:30am with Justine This is a perfect class for those new to yoga or seasoned yogis who would like a gentle class. We will focus on basic alignments, body positioning, breath-work, and introduce new poses as we progress.
Pilates and ZUMBA
Creative Pilates -Tuesdays 7:45-8:30am and Thursdays 4:30-5:15 with Sarah Strengthen your "powerhouse" of abdominals, back-body, hips & glutes with slow, precise movements. We will use fun props for safe, effective alignment and engagement. Progressions of exercises make this a perfect class for all levels.
Zumba - Saturdays 8:30-9:15am with Stacey When the American Council on Exercise hooked up Zumba participants to heart-rate monitors, they found that the class functions a lot like interval training, with its mix of low- and high-intensity moves...Meaning, you could burn more calories (average 400-900 per 1 hour class) dancing than jogging at an even pace...And its WAY more fun! There is no wrong way to do Zumba. You go at your own pace and just enjoy the movements and music, it's more like a cool club than a strict dance class so no one notices or cares if you miss a step!
Wet n' Wild - Mondays 8:15-9am with Wendy These no-impact classes provide a fluid shallow water workout without impact on joints. The resistance of the water enhances gentle to vigorous movements and the use of upper body and lower body motions cultivate balance, strength, and aerobic stamina
Aqua Challenge - Mondays 6-7pm with Tina Join the pool party in this low impact shallow water workout that will increase strength, flexibility, cardiovascular endurance and balance. The properties of water provide a fun, safe and effective workout environment for a variety of fitness levels.
Water World - Tuesdays 8:15-9:15am with Wendy A fun, energizing, hi-lo water aerobics class! We will be using noodles & weights and the soft resistance of the water. Expert cuing and counting of reps keeps you going strong.
Water Balance+ - Thursdays 8:15-9am **Class on hold until January Develop your balance skills, improve posture and reduce stress on the joints! This class will encompass all of the components of fitness: cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength & endurance, and flexibility while working stabilizing muscles important for balance. Suitable for all levels.
Water Warriors - Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 10-11am with Harriet For fitness enthusiasts looking to challenge their balance and cardio, increase speed and agility, build strength and condition muscles, this class is great for those new to fitness, going through rehabilitation, and anyone who is looking for a low-impact work out!
Silver Sneakers® I - Mondays 7:45-8:30am with Tina, Wednesdays 8-8:45am with Sarah This class promotes muscular strength and range of movement. It is a fun class designed to improve strength and mobility for daily living. A chair is used for seated and/or standing support.
